What is Pre/Postpartum Therapy?

Whether you are planning to have a child or already expecting, research has shown that exercising regularly is not only safe but encouraged during your pregnancy. It can be intimidating to lift weights and gain strength without any guidance or prior knowledge, but we are here to help. A thorough physical examination conducted by a Doctor of Physical Therapy will be performed before any exercise prescription is given. Based upon your goals and needs, we will design a custom exercise plan that will be modified as you move along with your pregnancy. This can be an extremely stressful time for you, but we are here to support you and your health as this is such an integral part of a healthy pregnancy. 

If you have already had your baby, congratulations! As you transition to motherhood, it can be exhausting to even just think about exercise. But a little bit can go a long way. You may still benefit from a customized exercise plan as it is common to have some issues such as incontinence, leaking, fatigue, back pain, etc, but it shouldn’t be considered “normal”.
